Bezel - The top portion of
a ring consisting of lettering and the setting edge. The
area
around the stone.
Rosette - A special area in the bezel or
signet for additional or subsequent stone setting.
Shank - The entire ring below the bezel
and above the palm.
Panel - The area on each side of a ring which contains the
design or detail such as a logo.
Palm - The "bottom" of the ring
which goes toward the palm of the hand.
Signet - The flat top of an all metal ring
which may or may not have detail.
Right & Left Side - A ring has a right and left side.
This orientation is dictated by the bezel detail positioned
so
that it can be read.
Stone - A shaped natural or synthetic colored material set
in the ring bezel.
Insert - A metal, of customer’s choice, produced
in the shape and size of a stone which may have detail or
small
sets.
Engraving - Personal initials, dates, or names are scribed
inside the shank as space allows.
Karat - The measure of gold content in a material 24 Karat
is pure 100% gold.
GVF - (Gold Variation Factor) A formula
which adjusts the cost of the gold content of the manufactured
product
to current
market price.
White Gold - Similar to yellow gold with
the components changed to give a white or silvery appearance.
White gold is used
as 10K
and 14K.
Sterling - Almost pure silver with some
other metals to make it durable.
